Kennel Geijes

Aya Lundsten, the kennel’s owner, represents the third generation of a family of breeders. Geijes Kennel is Finland’s oldest active kennel; its name was registered in the Finnish Kennel Club back in 1943. For over 60 years, both Kerry Blue Terriers and Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers have been bred and reared here. In total, 29 Kerry Blue Terrier litters, and 42 Irish Soft Coated Wheaten terrier litters have been born at the kennel during that time.

A friend in all weather

Kerry and Wheaten terriers have a lot in common. They both trace their origins back to Irish farm hounds, who were responsible for providing various services in the daily work routines of the farm. Herding cattle, hunting, and keeping rodents at bay are just a few of the ways in which these breeds made themselves useful. It is hardly surprising, with this background, that both the Kerry and the Wheaten terrier have proven to be excellent companions to many dog owners, accompanying them in a wide range of activities-in all weathers.
